Meet Chasity Maynard

Bio

Chasity Maynard is a leader and innovator in visual and multimedia storytelling, receiving top honors across her home state of Florida and the country. She has a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Florida and leads both the digital desk and investigative team at WCTV Eyewitness News, the CBS affiliate in Florida's capital city.

While at UF, Chasity distinguished herself by being the first Gator in a decade to be selected to compete in the prestigious Hearst photojournalism championships in San Francisco. While obtaining her degree, Chasity learned and told stories in her community through internships at the Gainesville Sun and the Orlando Sentinel.

After graduating in the spring of 2022, she moved to the Florida capitol to work as a photojournalist at the Tallahassee Democrat. The following year, she joined her first broadcast newsroom as a digital producer at WCTV.

She quickly distinguished herself within WCTV and the newsroom's parent company, Gray Media. In her first six months, Chasity was promoted to become the Digital News Content Manager and Investigative Projects Lead at WCTV. During that time, she was also one of 30 people in all of Gray Media to be selected for the company's Emerging Leadership Class, a program designed to coach the company's brightest upcoming news leaders.

She has helped reshape the newsroom to bring WCTV's digital presence and investigative chops to the forefront. Chasity redesigned the station's mobile app and website, started an investigative team, managed multiple investigative projects, produced WCTV's first narrative podcast and spearheaded multiple special reports for television and digital. Under Chasity's leadership, video plays on WCTV's web platforms more than doubled from 2023 to 2024, and the station's performance on smart TV streaming apps nearly quadrupled over that year. â€‹

Through a creative use of all forms of storytelling — photos, data, public records and video — Chasity aims to produce compelling, meaningful and compassionate stories.
